31/03/2007 - Singapore Holiday
By Boat Quay
We have spent 2 1/2 weeks on holiday in Singapore (via London where we stopped for one night both on the way there and back). We have all had a great time - especially because cousin Michael, uncle Guy and aunt Sharon came with us and I got a perfect opportunity to spend lots of time with them.
The 12-13 hr flights were a challenge though...unlike Abi I refused to sleep in the cot Singapore Airlines gave me and decided to create a little mayhem on board (from being overtired and frustrated)...but luckily my parents were prepared for it.
We all stayed at the Shangrila hotel at Sentosa - a resort island connected to Singapore by bus, monorail and cable cars. Our room was on the ground floor next to Guy, Sharon and Michael's and there was a door between the rooms so I could just walk over there whenever I liked which was great, and we also had direct access to the garden and the pool via our patio doors.
It took a week to get over the jetlag though, and my parents struggled to keep Abi quiet at night so she wouldn't wake me up - sometimes unsuccessfully, and I would wander round wide awake at 4 AM.

We have done lots of sightseeing and the grown-ups have eaten plenty of very delicious and cheap food allthough sometimes ordering food could appear a bit scary if the menues weren't in English and you didn't know if you risked ending up with pig's intestines or eye balls....yuck! Daddy in particular loves Singapore - I expect for these 2 reasons: One being the hawker centres that serves a wide range of Asian food, and the other being the amazing selection of relatively cheap electronic gadgets and camera equipment. Both mummy and daddy bought themselves new cameras at the famous Sim Lim Square.
It shoudn't come as a surprise that with 3 kids under two, quite a lot of time is spent on nappy changing and feeding, but nevertheless we managed to see Little India, Chinatown, the botanic gardens, the more or less compulsory trip to the shopping extravaganza that is Orchard Road, Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, Singapore slings at the Raffles hotel, the colonial district, the financial district plus the cable cars to Singapore's highest point. In between all this we went swimming several times, and my mum even found time for a luxury spa treatment involving a mud wrap, body massage, aromatherapy and herbal tea. She loved it.
Two days before we went home grandma Harriet and grandpa Richard arrived. They were on a round the world holiday and spent a few nights at our hotel. I enjoyed seeing them again and we went swimming together plus we went on an excursion in the cable cars.
