21/12/2007 - 2/1/2008 - Xmas holiday in Mosjøen
Wed 26/12/2007 - The gorgeous dress I got from grandma & grandpa.
We have spent xmas with mormor Liv in Mosjøen. Getting up there was quite an ordeal. Due to big weather related problems at the Oslo airport, our flight was 1.5 hrs delayed, and so we missed our train from Trondheim airport to Mosjøen. After a lot of queueing and phoning the insurance company, we finally got hold of a rental car and arrived in Mosjøen at 2AM.
The 2 remaining days before xmas were very hectic, but we managed to get everything done on time for xmas eve.
This year I helped mormor and mummy decorate the tree, and I made sure everyone remembered, by pointing out the decorations I had hung up, all throughout the holiday.
As always I got plenty of fab presents, including a new children's national costume from mormor, a puzzle, a magnetic board with letters and numbers and one of the Barbapapa books mummy had when she was little (a new version of course, as mummy's original was very worn and has been chucked out years ago).
The weather has been most unusual, just like it was at easter. This is the first time mummy can recall there being no snow on xmas eve. There was not a gram of snow to be spotted anywhere! It started snowing on boxing day thoug, but only a little bit, and this was, according to mummy, just as well, since it meant we wouldn't have problems with mormors old car.
We also spent New Year's Eve in Mosjøen. As always, my parents woke me up in time for the fireworks, but this year I just cried all the time. I did not enjoy being woken up, removed from my warm bed and brought outside in the freezing cold weather! Abi enjoyed it though, as she has never seen fireworks before. All in all, Abi appeared to be enjoying her first xmas allthough she has been suffering a bit from teething pain.
We went home again on 2nd of Jan. The journey back was even more troublesome than the one out. Our train had a technical problem 30 minutes south of Mosjøen. We were stuck inside a tunnell, with no light, for 1.5 hrs. Then we were all taken outside to a field to wait for the buses, but of course the buses only arrived almost 2 hrs later. It was minus 6 degrees outside according to the local newspaper that came to interview us. Here's the story. Fortunetely neither Abi nor me complained much. We were allowed to warm up and refill our thermos inside a very nice man's house close by, which was very helpful! We missed our original flight from Trondheim, but got on to the next flight so all in all we were only one hr delayed.
Have a look at my Xmas 2007 album!
And don't forget to also take a look at Abi's first Xmas album.
